In POE2 early access, you can get maximum of 8 ascendancy points by completing 4 different trials. Of these 4 trials, you can complete two in the normal mode and two in the cruel mode.

In my experience, completing 3 out of 4 are relatively easy. The fourth set of ascendancy points requires you to either complete 4 set of trials in Trial of the Sekhemas or 4 set of trials in Temple Of Chaos. Now you have a choice a make about what path you want to take. I will share my experience with you.

Trial of the Sekhemas

This path will require you to complete 4 set of trials. At the end of each set, there is a boss fight. These 4 set of trials take a very long time. Depending on your DPS and type of trials you pick along the path, you are looking at spending more than an hour. Sometime it may even be longer. Along the path you will be picking few ailments and some boons. There is a lot of RNG at play when picking your path along the nodes. Some path may end up with random ailments that could tank your run. For example if you end up with ailments that reduce your movement speed below a certain threshold, then the last boss Zarokh The Temporal fight is going to fail at 50% when he is going to freeze time and require you to collect orbs.

There is more probability of ending up with bad ailments and modifiers that will make the trial really hard to complete.

Temple Of Chaos

This path also requires completion of 4 sets of trials. But these 4 sets are small.

  • Set 1: 3 mini trials + Boss
  • Set 2: 2 mini trials + Boss
  • Set 3: 2 mini trials + Boss
  • Set 4: Boss (The Trialmaster)

There is one caveat that you have to repeat Set 1 to Set 3 at least 3 times to collect 3 items to open the gate for fourth boss The Trialmaster fight. There is a good chance that you will need more than 3 runs to collect items. But the good thing is that you can do these runs at different times. Depending on your DPS, you should be able to complete each run in under 30 minutes.

Before each trial you have to pick a modifier for the fight. Some modifier may look daunting but most are manageable by having optimal resistances and skills. There are few modifiers that you do want to avoid even if it means picking a more difficult one out of three that are offered. Best part of these trials is that each requires you to survive. There is no honor involved that can end your run.

Choice

In my opinion, Temple Of Chaos path is better than Trial Of the Sekhemas. There are too many things that can go wrong in Trial Of the Sekhemas. The most compelling reason is that Temple Of Chaos is based on your survival and not avoiding getting hit to lose honor.
