Path of Exile 2: Tips to defeat Geonor The Putrid Wolf

A lot of players have been struggling to deal with Mad Wolf, the end boss of Act 1. I have defeated it 3 times now and one time is on Cruel mode. I thought I will share some tips.

• It is the end boss of the Act. So it is not going to be a cake walk per se.
• You are going to encounter this boss early in the game. Your skill and gear may need some tweaking.
• There is a lot of Cold damage in this fight. Try to get as much as Cold resist possible.
  • One thing you should not miss is defeating Beira Of The Rotten Pack side boss early in the act. It gives a permanent +10 Cold resist for your character.
  • It is very easy to get Cold resist rings. Do not vendor them. These will be of great help.
  • Use Cold resist charm on your belt.
  • Some time you can get decent resist from Amulet as well.
• Keep any eye on freeze build up on you. If you reach 100%, you will freeze for few seconds. That can be deadly.
• During Phase 1, when adds are summoned, watch out for bog cold circle on the ground. It will instantly freeze you if you walk into it.
• Minimize use of like flasks in Phase 1. Since there will be few adds to kill Phase 1, you have good chance of recovering the charges.
• In Phase 2, mist phase is most deadly. This is where good amount of cold resist will help. You can step into the cold mist for a second or two if you get blocked by adds. Have a skill that will either quickly kill the adds or keep them away from you if you get into a tight spot. Otherwise just keep dodge rolling. It is a timed event and all add will disappear when this gauntlet ends.
• Filling icicles are deadly. They will do lot of damage and quickly build up freeze on you as well. Watch for the location they are to fall. Side step to avoid getting hit. I think there is some issue with its hit box. So, keep good distance from them.
• Last but not the least, have patience.
